Felsenburg Castle (Ruin) (Kandergrund)
The Felsenburg ruin in the municipality of Kandergrund in the canton of Bern was constructed towards the end of the 12th century. Its first written mention dates back to 1339, when the Bishop of Sion granted the castle and its surrounding territory as a fief to the Baron von Turn. In 1400, Bern acquired the entire Frutigtal. Subsequently, the nearby Tellenburg was designated as the seat of the Bernese bailiff, while Felsenburg was left to decay.
The Felsenburg ruin is located in Kandergrund in the Frutigen-Niedersimmental district in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It stands at an elevation of approx. 1032 meters above sea level.
