Frauenberg Castle (Ruin) (Ruschein)

Frauenberg Castle served as the ancestral seat of the Lords of Frauenberg, a branch of the Barons of Sagogn, formed around 1250 after an inheritance division. The family was first documented in 1257 with Heinrich von Frauenberg, who was likely identical to Heinrich von Sagogn. Heinrich II., the last male representative of the lineage (documented 1284–1305), was a minnesinger and politician. He later moved his residence to Gutenberg Castle in Liechtenstein. As Heinrich II. had no male heirs, Frauenberg Castle passed to the Werdenberg family after his death. From the 15th century onwards, parts of the castle were dismantled, and its stones were used for other constructions.
