Frauenstein Castle (Ruin)

The origins of the Frauenstein dominion, which included the village of Weiding, are not fully clear. In the late 13th century, Duke Heinrich of Lower Bavaria acquired Frauenstein from Fredrich dem Sigenhofer. A source from that period describes Weiding with a walled church, but also as a largely uninhabited, desolate area. In the 14th century, Frauenstein became a Bohemian fiefdom. Ownership later changed hands, including the Satzenhofer, Zenger, Fuchs, and Muracher families.
