Friberg Castle (Ruin) (Trun)

The exact origins of Friberg Castle are not fully documented. It is presumed that it may have been built by bailiffs from Distentis. In 1249, the administrator Antonius der Carnisio is said to have handed over or sold the monastic castle to his brother Lanfrancus. Later, in 1327, Vogt Hugo von Werdenberg had to return the castle to the monastery after disputes. A court ruling from 1469 mentions the Fryberg estate in the parish of Trun, although it is unclear whether this referred to the castle or a farm. The time when the castle was abandoned is not recorded.
