Friesenberg Castle (Ruin)

The origins of Friesenberg Castle likely date back to the 11th century. Its first documented mention appears in 1218 in a property register of St. Peter's Church. In the 13th century, Friesenberg Castle reflected the power dynamics, particularly the rise of the city of Zurich and its rivalry with noble families. A document from 1257 names Jakob Mülner, imperial Vogt of Zurich, as a knight of Friesenberg, suggesting administration by a Zurich knightly family. Later, in 1321, Friesenberg was listed as a fief of the Barons of Regensberg and the Counts of Habsburg.
