Geyersburg Castle (Ruin)
The former hilltop castle Geyersburg stands in Gelblingen, part of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg. Its history is linked to local noble families and the city of Hall, which owned it for a time.
History+
The construction of Geyersburg took place in 1391 by the Feldner family. As early as 1402, a Hans Feldner, known as Geyer, is documented in connection with Ulrich von Hohenlohe and the fortress Geyersburg. Later, the castle passed into the possession of the city of Hall, which sold it to Rudolf von Münkheim in 1406. Due to financial difficulties, he lost the castle, whereupon it became a fief to citizens of Hall. After the extinction of the Lords of Münkheim in 1507, Geyersburg lost its significance. During the Peasants' War, a group of peasants hid in the fortress, which was then also called Gartenheuslin. In 1982, the ruin underwent renovation.
