The Graisbach Ruin is on an elevated position at the northern edge of the eponymous district of Marxheim in the Donau-Ries region. This site, once a hilltop castle, offers remains of walls and a Romanesque castle chapel.

History+

The origins of Graisbach Castle likely date back to 1130, when it was built by the Lords of Graisbach. In the 13th century, ownership passed to the Counts of Lechsgemünd after their original ancestral seat was destroyed in 1248. They subsequently adopted the name “Counts of Lechsgemünd-Graisbach”.
