Granegg Castle (Ruin)
The Granegg Ruin, also known as Graneck or Michelstein, is a rock castle in the Tuttlingen district.
History+
The origins of Granegg Castle date back to the 11th century when it was built by the Lords of Michelstein. Its first documented mention is from the year 1102. The complex changed hands and later came into the possession of the Ifflinger family. The castle suffered two destructions by the Imperial City of Rottweil in 1356 and 1377, though parts of the walls and the keep remained. In 1923, the tower ruin was owned by the Catholic Church Administration in Rottweil, before being transferred to the Schwäbischer Albverein in 1931, which has since been responsible for its preservation.

The Granegg Ruin is situated at an elevation of approximately 925 meters above sea level on the Schlossfelsen, west of the municipality of Egesheim in the Tuttlingen district.
