Grüningen Castle (Ruin)

Grüningen Castle is a castle ruin located in the Grüningen district of the city of Pohlheim in the Gießen district.
The castle complex, probably built as a moated castle in the 12th to 13th centuries, was first mentioned in a document in 1394 and as "Grüningen Castle" in a charter of liberties at the end of the 15th century.
After destruction and looting in the Thirty Years' War, the castle fell into disrepair, and on June 3, 1983, the restoration of the ruin began.
