The Hirschburg ruin is a high medieval castle complex above Leutershausen in Baden-Württemberg.

History+

The Hirschburg was likely constructed around the year 1200 by a branch of the Strahlenberger family. It is believed that the nearby Schanzenköpfle was the original Hirschburg, possibly built at the beginning of the 12th century by the noble free family of the Hirschbergers. After the extinction of the original Hirschbergers in the early 13th century, new feudal lords took over the castle and also called themselves “von Hirschberg”.
