East of the municipality of Grabenstetten, the Hofen Ruin is a spur castle ruin, rising on a steep rock face that descends into the Schlattstaller Valley.

History+

The origins of Hofen Castle date back to before 1323. In that year, the Schwenzlin family adopted the name of their new castle, establishing it as their ancestral seat. The castle was destroyed and progressively fell into disrepair after 1478. Although it was mentioned again in 1535 in connection with an Alexander Chapel, it was already referred to as a ruin by 1553.
