Hofen Castle (Ruin)
The Hofen ruin is the ruin of a spur castle on a high, steep rock face, falling into the Schlattstaller Valley, east of the municipality of Grabenstetten in the district of Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was built before 1323; in that year, the Schwenzlin family first named themselves after their castle Hofen, which served as their ancestral seat. The castle was destroyed and fell into disrepair after 1478. In 1535, the castle was mentioned again in connection with an Alexander Chapel and in 1553 it was referred to as a ruin.
Of the castle complex, the gate was restored, next to which the keep presumably stood. Remains of the encircling walls, ramparts, and moats are still visible.
