Hohenalfingen Castle (Ruin)

The remains of the ruins can be visited

The Hohenalfingen castle ruin is a castle ruin on a high foothill of the Swabian Jura above the Oberalfingen district of the Hofen borough of the city of Aalen in the Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg.

The castle was built around 1200 by the Lords of Ahelfingen as their ancestral seat and was almost completely destroyed during the Peasants' War and the Thirty Years' War. Remains of the keep, the curtain wall, and the moat are still present. During excavations around 1950, remains of a round tower were discovered in the current courtyard.
