The Holstein Ruin, also known as Hölnstein, is on a rock east above Stetten unter Holstein, a district of Burladingen in the Zollernalbkreis.

History+

The construction of the hilltop castle is presumed to have taken place around 1275, likely by the Lords of Hölnstein. From 1388 onwards, parts of the complex were repeatedly sold. Heinrich von Killer zu Ringingen acquired portions of the castle in 1404. In 1431, the castle was inhabited by Renhard Nerer, Konrad von Hölnstein's son-in-law. The entire structure passed into the possession of Count Jobst Nikolaus I. von Zollern in 1474.
