Jungnau Castle (Ruin)

The origins of Jungnau Castle date back to 1333, when it was first mentioned as being in the possession of the sons Burkhard and Johannes of its builder, Burkkhard von Jungingen. In 1418, the complex passed into the possession of the Counts of Werdenberg. From 1534 to 1806, it belonged to the Fürstenbergs and served as the seat of the chief bailiff. During this time, the palas was converted into a castle. In 1842, the upper part of the tower was demolished, and in 1844, the castle, except for the keep, was dismantled. A school and town hall were later built on its site.
