In the municipality of Wurmlingen near Tuttlingen in Baden-Württemberg, the Konzenberg ruin, once a spur castle, is located. The remains of the keep, constructed from shell limestone ashlar blocks, are preserved.

History+

The origins of Konzenberg Castle date back to the High Middle Ages, likely built by the noble free lords of Wartenberg. Its first documented mention is from 1239, at which time it was already owned by the noble free lords Fürst von Hirschegg. In 1300, Konrad Fürst von Konzenberg III sold the castle and its associated property to Bishop Heinrich II of Constance. In 1301, he expanded the property to include the judicial lordship of Wurmlingen and parts of the bailiwick of Frittlingen, thereby creating the Lordship of Konzenberg.
