History+

The origins of Kraftstein Castle date back to the 12th century, when it was built. It was first mentioned in documents in the 14th century. The Lords of Reichenau and the Lords of Wartenberg were recorded as owners of the complex.

The Kraftstein Ruin is situated at an elevation of approximately 817 meters above sea level near the hamlet of Kraftstein, which belongs to the town of Mühlheim an der Donau in the district of Tuttlingen. It is located in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
