The Krebes Ruin, a remnant of a twin-church complex, is located in the Vogtland district of Saxony. This historic site is situated at an elevation of approximately 534 meters above sea level.

History+

The area around Krebes was owned by the noble family von Sack in the 14th century. Archival records from the 1420s confirm a noble residence on Burgstein, inhabited by the Pucher family. In 1474, an apparition of the Virgin Mary led to the establishment of a pilgrimage and the construction of a pilgrimage chapel, now known as the western Burgstein ruin. This chapel was subordinate to the parish of Krebes and thus belonged to the Diocese of Bamberg.
