Lehrbach Castle (Ruin)
The Lehrbach Ruin, a lowland castle, is located in the Hessian Vogelsberg district.
History+
Lehrbach Castle was constructed around 1180. In 1349, the complex passed into the possession of the Lehrbach family, who received it as a male fief. This family abandoned the castle around 1550. Its ultimate fate was sealed during the Thirty Years' War between 1618 and 1648, during which the castle was destroyed. An initial restoration of the ruin took place in 1901, but a smaller part of the building fabric further deteriorated in 2006.

The Lehrbach Ruin is situated in the Lehrbach district of the town of Kirtorf, in the Vogelsberg district in Hesse, Germany. It lies at an elevation of approximately 235 meters above sea level.
