Lichtenstein Castle (Ruin) (Haldenstein)

The first mentions of the Lords of Lichtenstein appear in 1180. In the 12th century, the family split into a Lichtenstein and a Haldenstein branch, distinguishable by their similar coats of arms. In 1275, Knight Ulrich von Lichtenstein, the last secular representative of the family, died. The inheritance and the castle passed to their relatives, the Lords of Haldenstein. The castle was last mentioned in a document in 1396 in the context of a feud. In the 15th century, the complex was apparently abandoned, with no signs of violent destruction.
