Maisenburg Castle (Ruin)

The origins of the Maisenburg lie in the 12th century, when it was built by the Knights of Maisenburg. It was first documented in 1268 as "Castrum Maisenburg". The castle changed hands multiple times, including to the Lords of Gundelfingen. From 1764 to 2003, the property belonged to the von Speth family. After 1820, the main castle was abandoned as a residence and gradually fell into disrepair. The outer bailey, however, was converted and used for agricultural purposes. Renovations of the complex took place in 1991 and 1992. Since 2003, the ruin has been privately owned. The preserved part of the outer bailey was renovated until the end of 2005 and converted into holiday apartments and a banquet hall.
