Megling Castle (Ruin)
In Au am Inn, a district of the market town of Gars am Inn in the Mühldorf am Inn district, Bavaria, Germany, the Megling Ruin is situated at an elevation of approximately 528 m above sea level. The keep is also known as Stampfl Castle or Stampflschlössl.
History+
The origins of Megling Castle date back to the early 13th century, when it served as the ancestral seat of the Counts of Megling. From here, they exercised patronage over the Augustinian canons' monasteries of Au am Inn and Gars. Its location on the Stampflberg is protected by steep slopes on three sides. Ashlar blocks are still visible today, testifying to the former fortifications.

The preserved keep, a three-story rectangular building with a steep half-hip roof, is the remnant of the castle complex.
