Neideck Castle (Ruin)

The first documented mention of Neideck Castle occurred in 1312, when it was owned by the noble family of Schlüsselberg. However, it is believed that the complex was already built in the 12th century. Konrad II von Schlüsselberg, the last and most significant representative of his lineage, expanded Neideck into a fortified stronghold starting in 1312. In 1347, during a feud between Konrad and the bishops of Würzburg and Bamberg as well as the burgraves of Nuremberg, the castle was attacked and destroyed, with Konrad von Schlüsselberg losing his life.
