The Neu-Elkerhausen ruin, also known as Gräveneck, is a castle remnant on the Schartenberg in Hesse.
History+
After the Lords of Elkerhausen lost their original ancestral castle in 1352, they built Neu-Elkerhausen Castle as a fief of the County of Diez. However, this fortress on the Schartenberg was destroyed in 1396 and has been a ruin ever since.

The Neu-Elkerhausen ruin is located in Gräveneck, a district of Weinbach in the Limburg-Weilburg district, Hesse, Germany. It stands at an elevation of approx. 162 meters above sea level.
On site+
Today, remnants of the curtain wall and the stump of the square keep remain from the former castle. The ruin is freely accessible.
