In the municipality of Schorndorf in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham in Bavaria, the Neuhaus Ruin, a high medieval noble castle, stands on a 30-meter-high rock outcrop. It now serves as a backdrop for cultural events.

History+

The first documented mention of the castle occurred in 1254 with the naming of an “Otto de novo castro,” though his exact family affiliation with the Buchbergers or Sattelbogers remains unclear. From the 14th century, the Sattelbogers are documented as owners, including Milot and Jacob von dem Newnhaus in 1320, and Konrad Sattelboger as lord of the castle in 1351.
