In the eponymous district of the municipality of Walting in Bavaria, lies the Pfalzpaint Ruin, once a lowland castle. Its history is closely linked to the local noble family and later the Prince-Bishopric of Eichstätt. Today, the stump of the keep characterizes the appearance of the former defensive complex.

The origins of Pfalzpaint Castle date back to the 13th century, when it was built as a family seat by the Lords of Pfalzpaint, ministeriales of the Counts of Hirschberg. In 1452, Heinrich von Pfalzpaint sold the complex to Michael Muggenthaler before joining the Teutonic Order. A transformation occurred in 1539 under the Nuremberg field captain Haug von Parsberg, who expanded the castle into a palace. After the death of his widow in 1578, the fief passed to Georg Wurmrauscher.
