On a rocky outcrop near Oitringen in the Zollernalbkreis, Baden-Württemberg, lies the Schalksburg ruin, a former spur castle. It now serves as a publicly accessible viewpoint.

History+

The origins of the small Schalksburg, also known as Ödenburg, are dated to the first half of the 12th century based on ceramic finds. The original owners and the exact name have not been preserved. A connection to the Lords of Schalksburg, documented from 1211, and their namesake castle near Albstadt is now doubted.
