The remains of the Castle can be visited

The Schiedberg ruin, a castle complex, is on a gravel hill southeast of the village of Sagogn in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It serves as a freely accessible monument.

History+

Archaeological investigations in 1964 and 1968 confirm continuous settlement on Schiedberg from prehistory through Roman times to the early Middle Ages. Finds such as iron tools and ceramics suggest that it could be the Castrum of Sagogn mentioned in Bishop Tello's will from 765, where the family owned a stone house. Around the year 1000, the noble castle was built, reaching its final expansion stage around 1250.
