Schlans Castle (Ruin)

The exact identity of the tower in medieval documents is not entirely clear. While a castle named Sylans is mentioned in the 14th century, it is uncertain whether this refers to the tower of Schlans or the Salons complex. However, an estate sold in 1377, referred to as “Quadra davos Kasteil,” could point to the square tower. The tower served as the residence of a vassal of the Lords of Salons. Evidence of other buildings or a curtain wall is no longer present.

The Schlans ruin is located in the municipality of Trun in the Surselva district, canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. It is situated at an altitude of approx. 1175 meters above sea level, above the village center and the church of Sta. Maria dalla Neiv.
