Schleifenrain Castle (Ruin) (Kemmental)

The remains of the Castle can be visited

The ruin of Schleifenrain Castle is located in the municipality of Kemmental in the canton of Thurgau. It is situated on a hill and is surrounded by the gorge of the Kemmenbach and another stream, and was probably built in the 12th century.

In the 1960s, excavations uncovered the foundations of a tower and an annex. Nothing is known about the ownership to this day. It is presumed that the castle belonged to the Lords of Hugelshofen, vassals of the Bishop of Constance.
