In the Lower Engadine, near the municipality of Tschlin in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, lies the Serviezel Ruin, a former castle on an elongated rock.

History+

There are few written records regarding the origins and development of Serviezel Castle. Ulrich Campell mentioned the site in 1573, reporting that locals referred to it as Chaistelg Ser Guietzel. The name Serviezel could derive from "Lord Wezzel," with a Wezzel already mentioned around 1148 and 1150 in connection with the Lords of Ramosch. When and why the castle was abandoned remains unknown.

The Serviezel Ruin is situated at an elevation of approximately 1209 m above sea level in the municipality of Tschlin, in the Inn district of the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. It lies on a rocky spur between two ravines, west of Martina.
