In the municipality of Sur in the Swiss canton of Graubünden lies the Spliatsch ruin, a medieval castle ruin. It is situated on a small hill near the Julier Pass road.

History+

The exact history of the Spliatsch Castle is not fully documented. It is believed that the tower was built at the beginning of the 13th century by the Lords of Marmels. In 1486, the tower was owned by the brothers Anton and Augustin von Beccaria, who had inherited it from their mother, Anna von Marmels. Towards the end of the 15th century, the associated courtyard was granted as a hereditary fief, with the feudal tenants obliged to maintain the complex.

The Spliatsch ruin is located in Sur in the Albula district, Canton Graubünden, Switzerland, at an altitude of approx. 1585 meters above sea level.
