The remains of the Castle can be visited

Steinerburg is located in Obersteinach and was built around the 12th century, primarily from boulders. With its fields, forests, and vineyards, it belonged to the possessions of the Nobles of Steinach. Today, the castle is a well-visited ruin.

The castle site is located south of the village of Steinach, on the edge of the gorge through which the Steinach flows.

A Bliger von Steinach is first mentioned in Piacenza in 1194. However, it is unclear whether this refers to a resident of Steinach am Bodensee. By 1209 at the latest, a Rudolf von Steinach was a vassal of the Bishop of Constance. This suggests the castle was built in the 12th century.
