A predecessor building is already mentioned in 1288 as being owned by the Lords of Tüschnitz. In the 14th century, a residential tower was erected. In 1525, the property was destroyed in the Peasants' War and subsequently rebuilt. In 1632, the castle was destroyed by Swedish troops in the Thirty Years' War and not rebuilt. In the 20th century, excavations and reconstruction of the wall remains took place.
