The exact history of the Turraccia castle's construction is not documented in written records, but its architectural style suggests it was built around the year 1200. It is believed to have belonged to the Bishop of Chur and served as the seat of a vogt. The name "Turraccia" derives from the Italian "Torre" (tower), supplemented by a pejorative suffix, indicating a "bad tower." When and why the castle was abandoned remains unknown.
