Waseneck Castle (Ruin)

The origins of Waseneck Castle date back to approximately 1220, when it was constructed by the Dukes of Teck. Around 50 years later, in 1270, the complex underwent expansion. From 1295, the Maier von Waseneck were mentioned as administrators and castlemen, a role they held until 1363. In that year, the castle passed into the possession of Duke Friedrich von Teck. The property changed hands multiple times, eventually coming into the possession of Count Eberhard IV of Württemberg in 1416. By 1460, it was already referred to as a ruin, indicating its decay. In 1806, the dilapidated castle became state property of the Kingdom of Württemberg. Between 1968 and 1980, the foundations were excavated, restored, and partially rebuilt to preserve the remains.
