Werrach Castle (Ruin)

The origins of Werrach Castle likely date back to the 12th century, with the Lords of Wehr considered its probable builders. An Adalgoz von Werrach appeared as a witness in property transfers between 1092 and 1132 and held the Vogt position over St. Blasien Monastery before 1100, though this was revoked in 1125. Later, the complex came into the possession of Ulrich von Klingen, who bequeathed it to his son, the minnesinger Walther von Klingen, in 1250. In 1256, the castle was besieged and destroyed during a feud between Rudolf von Habsburg and the Bishop of Basel.
