Sandbjerg Slot (Castle)

The Sandbjerg estate was first mentioned around the year 1500. Duke John of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg established the estate around 1570, which remained in the hands of the ducal lines for nearly a century. Following the bankruptcy of the ducal house, the Danish Crown confiscated the estate in 1667. In 1673, Sandbjerg passed into the possession of the Reventlow family, who held it until 1930. Subsequently, the Dahl family acquired the property, donating it to Aarhus University in 1954. The current appearance of the manor house was shaped around 1788, with its design featuring pilasters and strong coloring showing influences from the nearby Augustenborg Castle.
