Schallenburg in Brühl-Schwadorf is a moated castle in the Rhineland, distinguished by its continuous habitation and historical building fabric. It is one of the few preserved structures of its kind in the region.

History+

The first documented mention of Schallenburg dates back to the 12th century. Its name refers to the Cologne patrician family von Schall zu Bell, who are considered the original owners of the complex. The current main building underwent extensive renovation in 1694. In the 19th century, the outbuildings and the park were laid out and designed.
