Schickenhof Manor

The first written mention of Schickenhof dates back to 1220, when it was named in connection with a donation to Zwettl Abbey. In 1231, it was described as the property of a soldier named Pilgrimus, called Schike, and in 1280, it was explicitly referred to as Shichenhove. In the 16th century, the estate belonged to Joachim Stockhorner von Starrein. In 1588, it passed to Achaz von Landau, who had the property rebuilt around 1600. Schickenhof changed hands several times, including Christoph Pruckner (1623), Katharina von Goldenstein (1757), Count Leopold von Schallenberg (1757), Matthias Ritter von Schönerer (1868), the Deutsche Ansiedlungsgesellschaft (1938), and Baron Ludwig von Lazarini (1943). Today, Schickenhof is owned by the Walderdorff family.
