Schlegler Castle

The construction of the castle is dated to around 1415, with timber analyses confirming that the trees were felled as early as 1413. It is believed that Diether von Gemmingen, son of Dietrich von Gemmingen, acted as the builder. Dietrich von Gemmingen had acquired a part of Heimsheim in 1407. After an inheritance division in 1425, Diether received half of the locality. Coats of arms at the gate, combining Gemmingen and Selbach, indicate Diether's marriage to Anna von Selbach. Although originally built as a defensive castle, the building was converted into a granary as early as 1578, losing its defensive features. Another renovation took place after 1715.
