Affing Castle

The first mention of the Lords of Affing dates back to 1040. From the 14th century onwards, the Hofmark Affing frequently changed owners. In 1682, the Barons of Leyden acquired the property. Count Maximilian Anton von Leyden sold the Hofmark Affing in 1816 to Karl Ernst von Gravenreuth, who also acquired the Iglhof manor. A previous castle stood on the site of the current one, which was destroyed by Margrave Albrecht Achilles of Brandenburg in 1462 but rebuilt by Wolfgang von Waldeck. From 1694, Johann Baptist Freiherr von Leyden initiated the construction of the new castle. After a fire in 1928, the building was restored to its original form by Oswald Bieber.
