Ahlsdorf Castle

Ahlsdorf was once an independent parish village with a manor and its own patrimonial court. In 1459, the place, under the name Ahlsdorp slavia, belonged to the provostry of Jüterbog and was located in the administrative district of the Electorate of Saxony's Schweinitz office. In 1709, Ahlsdorf was an entailed estate of the Seyffertitz family under Anton Friedrich v. Seyffertitz, whose brother Joachim Hennig v. Seyffertitz inherited it in 1736 to Adolf Reichsfreiherr v. Seyffertitz. He, along with four brothers, had been elevated to the status of Imperial Baron by Augustus the Strong in 1711. With the results of the Congress of Vienna, Ahlsdorf became part of the Schweinitz district in 1816.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the manor belonged to Elise Görz, the widow of Georg von Siemens.

The castle, built in 1709, includes a 15-hectare park with rare trees and shrubs. Also located here is a crypt of the Siemens family, which was restored in 1994/95, the so-called Whispering Bench, and a wooden teahouse with rich carvings. The building is privately owned; the park is accessible to visitors.
