Ainwalding Castle, a historic complex in Ungenach-Ainwalding, Upper Austria, was originally built as a castle. It underwent several transformations and today is a privately owned estate.

History+

The first documented mention of the complex dates back to 1355, when a Gottschalk Aboltinger was named as a knight in the service of Starhemberg Castle. Ownership changed frequently. In 1467, Emperor Frederick III enfeoffed Tibold Aspan and his brother Siegmund Anwaldinger with the seat. After further changes of ownership, including the Fuerttenbach family, Ainwalding came into the possession of Tobias Nütz von Goisernburg in 1648. As the old castle was dilapidated, it was demolished and rebuilt. In 1730, Johann Albrecht Reichsgraf St.
