Åkerö Castle

Åkerö is a castle in the municipality of Flen, Södermanland. In 1281, Ulf Karlsson sold Åkerö to the German Friedrich Stik Ting. Later, ownership passed to Judge Bo Nilsson, who retained it for almost 150 years. Åkerö Castle was built between 1752-1757 by Carl Gustaf Tessin. Carl Hårleman planned the construction. The castle is located on a rocky island on the northern shore of Lake Yngaren. In 1660, the castle partially burned down and was demolished in 1750. The new castle was built between 1752-1757. In 1769, Tessin sold Åkerö to his brother Governor Axel Wrede Sparre. Later, ownership passed to Marshal F. F. Montgomery, who sold Åkerö to Director C. Arfvedsson. Through marriage, the property came into the possession of Colonel S. E. G. Leijonhufvud, who sold Åkerö Castle in 1900 to engineer GF Enderlein. The castle remained in their possession until 2000. They sold it to Henriette Ramel, who is married to Baron Gustaf Ramel von Viderup.
