Allach Castle, also known by names such as Gilmer Castle or Waldeck Castle, is a castle complex featuring a gatehouse, a main building, and a chapel with Romanesque-Gothic elements. It is located in the Allach district of Munich, directly on the banks of the Würm Canal.

History+

The construction of Allach Castle began in 1899 by Lorenz Hauser, the “Millionaire Builder of Neuhausen,” following plans by Max Knörnschild. Originally conceived as a hunting lodge, the construction proceeded as a “villa” after a renewed application. Hauser had the main building furnished and, in 1900, added a Neo-Romanesque chapel, a stable and servants' building, and a gatehouse, designed by the Rank brothers. Hauser inhabited the castle for only a few years, selling it in 1908 to Count Alexander von Boos zu Waldeck and Montfort. In the following years, the property changed hands multiple times, including Michael Heizer and Josef Schweißheimer. After a forced auction in 1915, Lorenz Hauser reacquired the castle, only to sell it shortly thereafter to the merchant Eduard Hagedorn.
