Alt-Madlitz Castle

The Alt-Madlitz estate was first documented in 1373. From 1551 to 1751, the property was owned by the von Wulffen family. In 1551, Kaspar von Wulffen had a fieldstone house built here, which was expanded before 1750. In 1751, the Counts Finck von Finckenstein acquired the estate, a family previously mainly based in East Prussia. Field Marshal Albrecht Konrad Finck von Finckenstein, who was elevated to the status of Imperial Count for his services in the War of the Spanish Succession, made Alt-Madlitz one of their main residences. In the 18th century, under Friedrich Ludwig Karl Finck von Finckenstein, the manor house was expanded into a three-story country palace. At the same time, outbuildings were constructed, and Brandenburg's first English landscape park was created.
