Alt Ranft Castle

The origins of the estate date back to around 1600, when the first manor house was built. In 1652, ownership transferred to Wolf Friedrich von Bomsdorf, under whose patronage the manor house was transformed into a Baroque castle in 1678. A phase began in 1739 with Samuel von Marschall, who successfully advocated to Frederick II for the drainage of the Oderbruch region. This project, which took place from 1747 to 1762 under Marschall's leadership, fundamentally shifted the region's economic basis from fishing to agriculture. In 1820, Count Wilhelm Werner Georg von Hacke acquired the estate, and his family influenced the area until 1916. Under Count Hacke, the 3.5-hectare castle park was also designed according to the ideas of Peter Joseph Lenné. In 1878, the castle received its current appearance through a new building with two side wings, replacing an older annex.
