Music Academy of the University of Regensburg

In the municipality of Alteglofsheim in Bavaria, Alteglofsheim Castle is located, which today houses a music academy. Originally a medieval fortress, it evolved into a castle.

History+

The origins of Alteglofsheim Castle date back to the High Middle Ages, when a moated castle belonging to the Eglofsheim family existed here in the 10th century. In 1240, the complex was mentioned as Castrum Egelofsheim. After changes of ownership, Johann Georg Freiherr von Königsfeld acquired the estate in 1659. As an Imperial Count, he had the castle expanded and furnished around 1680. His grandson Hans Georg Joseph Anton Maria Graf von Königsfeld, a minister, carried out further expansions between 1728 and 1734. Around 1780, Count Christian Johann August von Königsfeld added the north wing with the Oval Hall.
