Angern Castle, a historic building, is located in the municipality of Angern in the Börde district of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Originally built as a moated castle, it is now privately owned.

History+

As early as 1341, Archbishop Otto of Magdeburg had a castle with an artificial moat built in Angern, presumably on the foundations of a previous structure. In the following decades, the moated castle changed hands several times. For example, in 1343 it belonged to Gerlof von Brunhorcz and from 1363 to Lüdecke von Grieben. In 1370, Lüdecke von Grieben and two sons of Knight Jakob von Eichendorf were enfeoffed with the place. From 1373, Knight Gebhard von Alvensleben was the feudal lord, known for his raids on Magdeburg merchants. In 1382, Magdeburg citizens besieged the castle and forced Gebhard von Alvensleben to cede it for 400 marks of silver.
