Annabichl Castle

Annabichl Castle

To be privately owned

Annabichl Castle is located in the north of the city of Klagenfurt in the Annabichl district, which is named after the castle. The east-facing main facade overlooks Sankt Veiter Straße, an important Klagenfurt thoroughfare from the north, from a hill approximately 30 meters high.

It was built between 1580 and 1587 by Georg von Khevenhüller for his second wife Anna. The facade was baroqueized in 1755.

It is a three-story building with five window axes facing east. This facade is elaborately designed, while the west facades are very plain. To the south is a baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Anna. It was built after 1774. The castle has a historic terraced garden that extends to St. Veiter Straße. Originally, the garden extended even further to the east.
